Precise temperature management during the post-weld annealing cycle is essential for achieving a strong, ductile weld joint on bi-metal and high-alloy bandsaw blades. If annealing temperature is too low, the weld joint remains brittle martensite and fractures upon bending; if it is too high, the steel grain coarsens and decarburizes, resulting in premature tooth failure. Temelsan KN welding machines utilize high-speed non-contact optical infrared pyrometers to monitor the joint temperature in real time and dynamically modulate annealing current.

• Infrared Optical Pyrometers: High-response optical sensors equipped with focusing optics and target laser sights, capable of measuring metal surface temperatures from 400°C to 1,100°C with millisecond response times.
• Optical Cables & Protective Lens Windows: Heat-resistant quartz glass lens covers, fiber optic light guides, and protective air-purge collars to prevent soot, dust, and weld flash from clouding the sensor optics.
• Digital Pyrometer Amplifiers & Signal Converters: Factory-calibrated signal processing units outputting 4-20mA or 0-10V analog signals directly to the Temelsan PLC.

Calibration & Sensor Maintenance Guidelines

Inspect and clean the pyrometer protective lens daily using optical lens wipes and dry compressed air. A dirty lens will cause the sensor to read lower than actual temperature, leading to excessive overheating and burnt weld seams.
